National Open Garden Scheme - Merriments, Hurst Green
Thursday 09 August 2018
Time: 10:00am - 04:30pm
Location: Merriments, Hawkhurst Road, Hurst Green, Sussex, TN19 7RA
Explore the beautiful gardens at Merriments in Hurst Green as part of the National Open Garden Scheme.
Started by the Weeks family in 1991, the Gardens grew out of a bare clay field to become four remarkable acres of creative design and striking planting. Deep, sweeping borders imaginatively designed with carefully chosen planting combine colour, form and texture to ensure that each area blends seamlessly into the next to create a satisfying and harmonious whole.
Specialising in unusual perennials, much of the planting seen in the gardens is propagated and grown on site and is available to purchase in the Plant Centre. The Gardens have recently been purchased by a local resident, Lucy Cross, wishing to preserve the Weeks’ legacy and over the coming years many of the original features, such as the central pond system, will be restored to their former glory.
Admission: Adult: £8.00, Child: Free
