High Weald
At the edge of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty this walk gives magnificent views of the Downs and meanders through the wooded and heathy valleys surrounding Leonardslee Gardens.

Directions/Transport: From Leonardslee Gardens walk northwards along the road towards Lower Beeding. Take the right fork at the junction, Leechpond Hill and after a short distance there is a footpath on the right hand side. Take this footpath through the woods at Eastland Hill and follow until you reach a track.

Cross the track and continue on the footpath, ignoring a left turn. You will come to a junction with a bridlepath. Turn left onto the bridlepath. Follow this path until it reaches the road. Turn right towards Warninglid.

At Warninglid turn right and continue on the lane until it turns sharp right and a bridlepath continues straight on. Follow this bridlepath through Rout Farm. Continue on the path until you reach a lane.

Turn right on the lane and in a short distance take a footpath on the left hand side. Follow this footpath until it passes Colwood Manor and reaches a lane. A bridlepath follows a track on the right between the two lanes at the junction, called Earwig Lane. Follow this lane until it reaches the road. Turn left for a short distance and turn right onto a footpath.

Follow this footpath, ignoring the first junction with a bridlepath, through Steep Wood until you meet the bridlepath again. Turn right onto the bridlepath for a short distance until you come to a path junction. Carry on straight ahead on a footpath. This will take you back to the A281.

On the A281 turn right and walk along the road the short distance back to Leonardslee Gardens.
