The site consists mainly of two fields of unimproved grassland, formerly used for horse grazing, surrounded by ancient hedgerows with a good mix of locally native species. A small area of ghyll woodland along the north western boundary provides another good wildlife habitat and will provide a source of tree and ground flora species which will colonise the new planting over time.
