Turner's Field covers a total of around 11 hectares of semi-improved neutral grassland containing a rich mixture of grasses and herbs such as pepper saxifrage, black knapweed and bird's-foot-trefoil, there is an outer strip of unimproved grassland with anthills, a small stream and pond, and areas of scrub and mature woodland.  Woodland and scrub communities on the north of the site include alder, hornbeam, oak and hazel with hawthorn and blackthorn.  Notable also for autumn fungi.
