The wood is predominantly of a native broadleaf type and of an Ancient Semi-Natural character, containing Oak (sessile and pedunculate) Beech, Ash, Rowan, Silver birch, Alder, Crab apple and Field Maple, with a mixture of regenerating native broadleaves. The shrub and field layers are well developed (except where suppressed by cherry laurel) and nine species of fern grow in the wood. There are areas with drifts of wood anemones, bluebells, wood sorrel and ramsons in spring. Also many mosses and liverworts - especially down by the stream.
