The High Weald can be enjoyed at all times of year - each season adds its own special character.
In early Spring the orchards are awash with pink and white blossom, sheep with newborn lambs graze the area's pasture and heathlands are perfumed with the coconut scent of yellow gorse flowers.
In summer, sunken lanes become green tunnels as the tree canopy closes, the landscape takes on a yellow hue as crops ripen, and flowering heather turns heaths and woodland glades purple. Farmers can be seen harvesting and hay cutting.
In Autumn, the orchards are heavy with fruit, and you may be lucky enough to catch the aroma of freshly cut hops. The hedges bear berries and nuts: blackberries, sloes, rosehips and hazelnuts and the area's abundant woodland gradually develops its autumn colours.
In Winter, migrating birds are attracted to the coast and valley mists emphasise the High Weald's rolling hills and the form of its native trees - Oak, Ash and Sweet Chestnut.
