Dave and Sally have built a wonderful new house in the High Weald on the site of an old barn, using as many local materials as they can.The heart of the house is a wood fueled burner, which provides all their heating needs and hot water via a thermal store, as well as cooking great pizzas!

Peter Browne - Sustainable building

Peter Browne moved into his 300 year old property near Ardingly, West Sussex, some 32 years ago and since then has set about improving it to an environmentally friendly house.

In addition to increasing the insulation and fitting double glazing, Peter has added a wind turbine and photovoltaic modules which supply a bank of batteries to supplement his power requirements and is planning to extend the area of panels so that he can sell back electricity to the national grid.

Chris West - Managing land for wildlife

Chris has managed part of his land for wildlife for a number of years now and is starting to reap the rewards of increased biodiversity on his land.He manages his meadow traditionally by having a yearly cutting regime followed by removing the cuttings to deplete the fertility of the soil and thereby giving native flowers a chance to grow with less competition from rank grasses and invasive vegetation.
