Ancient Woodland Restoration Project

Specialist management advice to landowners, land managers and forestry woodland_rhododendron_clearancecontractors on the restoration of Plantations on Ancient Woodland Sites (PAWS ) in the High Weald AONB and  South Downs National Park.

Contact: Our previous PAWS Officer has recently left and we are currently looking for someone to undertake this role.

Partners: Woodland Trust, Forestry Commission, High Weald AONB Unit, INTERREG 2 Seas Programme.

Timescale: December 2005 to 31 March 2011.

PAWSInterregHWJAClogo_webSince December 2005 the partners have jointly funded this national demonstration project to restore unmanaged conifer plantations on ancient woodland sites to broadleaved woodland. The project aims to demonstrate how proactive work by a dedicated officer can engage landowners who are currently not involved in woodland management under existing grants schemes.
