A programme that helps primary schools to recognise and value the
special features of the High Weald AONB in their area and to use the landscape as a cross-curricular resource.
Partners: Primary schools, Heritage Lottery Fund, High Weald JAC , High Weald Landscape Trust, Kent High Weald Partnership.
Timescale: Phase II September 2009 to August 2012.
The Unit has developed an active partnership with schools, with formal recognition of their involvement demonstrated through their commitment to being a High Weald Hero school. Through the partnership the following is being developed; a bank of digital media resources e.g. historical characters telling their landscape stories and other high quality support material e.g. map sets, landscape walks and image banks for school use, High Weald assemblies and workshops, the High Weald Heroes Award Scheme and training resources for teachers.
