High Weald

40 self-guided walking routes available to download during September – free of charge

Since making the tough decision to cancel this year’s Festival, the team has been working on a plan to help you explore the beautiful High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty safely, and at your own pace.

We’ve worked with a host of organisations and partners to gather a collection of fantastic self-guided walking routes from every corner of this beautiful landscape, including some real hidden gems. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a lockdown newbie, there’s something for everyone.

How will it work?

  1. First, make sure you’re signed up to our mailing list as this will be our main way of letting you know when new walks are released.
  2. A list of the available walks and an interactive map will be published on the Festival website from early August, so you can start planning; this will replace our usual Festival brochure.
  3. The walking guides will available to download at www.highwealdwalks.org in pdf format from the beginning of September. They will include clear directions and a map, and can be easily printed in A4 size on a home printer. They’ll only be available for one month and will come down on 1 October, so don’t miss out!
  4. Let us know how you’re getting on; share your photos and updates when you’re out and about using #highwealdwalks.

The walking guides will also include advice on exploring the countryside safely, in line with the latest government COVID-19 advice.
