The Battle and Brede Landscape Partnership Scheme is a developing, large-scale, partnership project; focused on the eastern end of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It aims to use an integrated, catchment-focused approach to enhance the conservation of, and increase community access to, the diverse heritage assets of the Brede River Valley.
A First Round application has recently been made to the Heritage Lottery Fund's Landscape Partnership Scheme programme. The application was submitted in May 2013, with a decision due by November 2013. If the bid is successful, there will be an 18 month Development Phase; to develop the Scheme in much greater detail. This will deliver an HLF Second Round submission in mid 2015, for a £2.3 million Delivery Phase receiving £1.6m of HLF support. Scheme delivery would run from 2016 to 2019.
As part of the First Round application process, extensive consultation on the Scheme's proposed vision, objectives and heritage projects has been undertaken with key stakeholders, local community groups, landowners and local residents.
