Introduction: Little Foxes Copse is a Woodland Trust woodland creation site, comprising two ex-sheep pastures planted with mixed native broadleaved trees and woody shrubs in two phases: 1991/2 and 2000/1.
Location: 3 miles west of Mayfield, adjacent to the junction of Stonehurst Lane and Dewlands Hill.
What can I do? Explore the site and admire the High Weald views, which the planting in the northern part of the site was specially designed to retain.
What can I see? Many different woodland trees were planted, or have naturally colonised the site, including hazel, field maple, crab apple, ash, alder, blackthorn and oak.
What can I hear? Woodland birds singing from their nests, the ground or the air.
