High Weald

Introduction: A 145ha mixed woodland plantation, owned and managed by the Forestry Commission. It is possible to connect to the neighbouring Flatropers Wood.

Location: 1.5 miles south of Beckley village, near Northiam, East Sussex; accessed from Horseshoe Lane.

What can I do? Explore the broadleaved and coniferous areas of the Woods on the well-surfaced forest tracks.

What can I see? Look out for signs of wild boar - the Beckley Woods area is a stronghold of the southern wild boar population!

What can I hear? Visit at dusk on an early summer's evening and listen out for nightjar and tawny owls.
