The High Weald AONB Management Plan is published every five years and work to review the 2014-2019 Management Plan began in March 2017.
The Management Plan sets out the High Weald AONB Partnership’s vision for the landscape and includes suggested actions and targets for how the area's authorities, advisory bodies, landowners, communities and businesses can work together to achieve that vision.

The review process ensures that the objectives for conserving this nationally-important landscape are up to date, and reflect current issues and evidence. The review is being carried out by the High Weald AONB Partnership on behalf of the area's 15 local authorities.
A crucial part of the review process is engagement, and the decision was taken to engage at an early stage to ensure the revised draft incorporates the views of as many organisations and individuals as possible.
The engagement process was divided into two parts:
1. Expert Engagement
This process involved running a series of High Weald character component-themed workshops, hosted during May 2017. A range of experts and advisers in relevant fields were invited to submit their views on various aspects of a specific character component.
Those unable to attend the workshops were given the option of submitting their views via a feedback form. A full report from each workshop can be downloaded below:

2. Public Engagement
From September to November 2017, the High Weald AONB Partnership ran an online public engagement survey as part of the ongoing Management Plan review. This survey sought to explore what aspects of the High Weald the public find particularly beautiful and how they most like to enjoy the area, as well as perceptions of the biggest threats and desired improvements. A total of 294 people completed the survey and the results were subject to a full qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Public Consultation
A public consultation on the draft High Weald AONB Management Plan 2019-2024 was carried out between 13 June and 25 July 2018. 143 responses were received from 115 individuals and 28 organisations
