Oat looks like a tall grass until it ripens and becomes golden in colour. After the oat kernels are harvested, the grass part (straw) can be used for animal bedding. Oats are either rolled or crushed into oatmeal, or ground into flour. They are most commonly used for making porridge and feeding horses and cows.
