
Description: Burwash was renown in the 18th and 19th centuries as a centre for smuggling. Nowadays it is renown as the home of late author Rudyard Kipling. He lived at Batemans just to the south of the village. There is a variety of shops and public houses in the village, including a Post Office and is 6 miles east of the market town of Heathfield.
