Description: Hartfield lies on the northern edge of the Ashdown Forest , and is probably named due to the number of deer(hart) that abounded in the area, when the Ashdown Forest was a royal deer hunting park. Hartfield has quite a few local services for a small village. The nearest main shopping centre is at East Grinstead, about 6 miles to the north west.
