The Historic Environment Awareness Project was an exciting venture which explored the archaeology of the heavily wooded landscape of the Weald Forest Ridge.
A LiDAR (light detection and ranging) survey mapped the area during 2009/10 as part of the Weald Forest Ridge Landscape Partnership Scheme's work.
Woodland archaeology toolkits have been developed for use with the LiDAR images, but they are also suitable for use without. They are useful to anyone investigating the wooded landscapes of the South East. The toolkits will help you to
pdf Woodland archaeology Level 1, 2, 3 survey toolkit (3.03 MB)
pdf Woodland archeaology feature Identification toolkit (5.41 MB)
pdf (7.01 MB) Undertake historical research of wooded landscapes
These toolkits were funded by the Weald Forest Ridge Landscape Partnership Scheme, with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
