During 2010/2011 the Sustainable Development Fund supported 12 Projects with total project costs of £52,000; £12,000 of which were grants awarded by the Sustainable Development Fund. 41 new partnerships were established and over 25 local producers were promoted through literature and websites. 17 local businesses supplied the projects; 7 community groups were involved and 250 children learnt about the High Weald's heritage.

The Cultural Landscape Project offers landowners in the High Weald AONB a free land advisory visit. Through these visits three landowners took the opportunity to enhance the habitat of their land with support from the High Weald Sustainable Development Fund. Restoration of Five Acre Meadows: Fiona Dagger
Project description: the landowners wished to restore Five Acres Meadow to its former glory, but the meadow was in danger of becoming too overgrown to save. Hand clearance of the area has taken place and a grazing programme has been instigated.

High Weald Energy Story: Ashdown Forest Conservators
Project description: High Weald Sustainable Energy Day was held at Ashdown Forest Centre on 21 October 2010. 4 Primary schools with 120 children were involved with Past, Present and Future activities focusing on renewable energy resources. This was supported by The Skinners School and Weald Forest Ridge scheme partners East Sussex Archaeology Museum Partnership and Sussex Wildlife Trust Forest Schools.

Beefing it Up: Hawkhurst Community Partnership
Project description: Part of a wider programme to celebrate the centenary of the OXO cube created in Hawkhurst. A local cookbook 'Hawkhurst cooks' was produced which also had a High Weald AONB section and local producers were highlighted in the cookbook as well as on the new website www.visithawhurst.org.uk. A new farmers market has also been encourage through this project.

Visit Cranbrook and Beyond Leaflet:
Project description: The Cranbrook & Beyond leaflet encourage tourism to visit local producers and use local transport. This covers a large travel to work area around Cranbrook including the area of Rother and parts of Ashford Districts. This will include information on the High Weald and will also be available as a web leaflet www.cranbrook.org

Interactive Interpretation for Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve: High Weald AONB Unit
Project description: Mentoring service by Telltale consultants, to support development of interpretation material for the Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve Visitors Centre in conjunction with Hastings Countryside Park Nature Reserve Friends.

Historic Routeways Pilot: High Weald AONB Unit
Project description: The Historic Routeways Project was introduced to map existing and lost routeways. As part of this project a methodology and toolbox has been created to support volunteers to help with the mapping process. Lamberhurst, Daneshill and Horsted Keynes have taken the opportunity to test the toolbox and methodology independently and to feedback data for the High Weald AONB Unit to build a more accurate picture of the formation of the routeways throughout the High Weald.

Forge Community Orchard & Standens Orchard
Project description: Forge Community Orchard & Standens Orchards have jointly purchased an apple press and crusher. This is to be used to promote their community days. Kent High Weald Partnership provided the training on the equipment and developed a community promotional plan to enourage new volunteers and use of the apple orchards. Awarded: £1115
Natural Food: Pestalozzi International Village Trust
Project description: An orchard was planted, using native species from a local supplier, to support the organic vegetable garden and Sussex Barn workshop at Pestalozzi village.

Interpreting our view: Oakley Secondary School
Project description: A sensory interpretation board, using a local woodcraft producer, was designed specifically for children with mixed abilities. The interpretation board focussed on the key elements of the High Weald landscape features and ponds in the High Weald.
