Bigfoot, an arts education company, has helped 'little feet' to act out the High Weald Story in 16 drama assemblies and workshops in primary schools across the area. Due to their success, more are planned for the Autumn.
Each day long event was kicked off by a whole school assembly in which pupils learnt about the history and development of the landscape led by 'Professor T. Travel'. Individual classes were then able to get involved in Key Stage 1 or 2 drama workshops to learn more about the Romans, Tudors or the Environmental story in their part of the High Weald. Teachers rated delivery and quality of the experience as 'excellent' and 'useful for providing a context for geographical and historical understanding'.
The project is being run as part of the High Weald Heroes primary school education programme. If you are a teacher at a primary school in the High Weald AONB and would like to be involved with the project please contact the High Weald Education Officer, This email address is being protected from spambots. The project is being funded by the Weald Forest Ridge Landscape Partnership Scheme with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
