annual_review_2009_10Highlights of our work last year included:
  • Publication and distribution of the 2nd edition of the High Weald AONB Management Plan 2004
  • Grant awards over £450,000 for projects that met AONB Management Plan objectives
  • Start of new Cultural Heritage Advisory Service - 39 visits and 5 talks in first 7 months
  • Roll out of the JAC's primary school education programme: 8 new High Weald Hero schools, 11 whole school assemblies, 13 themed workshops, 4 new Welly Walks achieved in first 7 months
  • National and Regional acclaim for High Weald historic farmstead research
  • Understanding of Routeways developed through volunteer support for trialing new survey methodologies
  • Giant-led, musical and fiery public celebrations of the Weald Forest Ridge and its 4 medieval forests
  • Vanishing Meadows exhibition in partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens Kew Place
  • Sign up from three more local authorities for extension of the Ancient Woodland Survey
  • Funds secured for extension of the Ancient Woodland Restoration Project and the Weald Meadows Initiative
