To celebrate the centenary of the OXO cube, which was created in Hawkhurst in 1910, the 'Hawkhurst Cooks with OXO' cookbook has been published. This small cookbook is packed with delicious local recipes provided by residents of Hawkhurst and the surrounding area.
The cookbook also explores the importance of conservation grazing to the High Weald landscape and profiles local producers covering the wide range of products Kent and Sussex can offer. More information on local producers and the history of Oxo in Hawkhurst can be found on www.visithawkhurst.org. or the Local Producers section of this site.
There are lots of helpful tips on cooking and how to not waste food as well as over 40 delicious recipes, such as lamb shanks with plum sauce, all which can be tried at home with or without the Oxo cube!
The Cookbook will be available from 7 December 2010 and you can collect your FREE copy from Jempsons, Hawkhurst Library, Hawkhurst Parish Council Office on The Moor, Kino Hawkhurst and a variety of other outlets in and around the area.
The cookbook has been published by the the Hawkhurst Community Partnership and funded by High Weald Joint Advisory Committee, The Jempson Foundation and Kent County Council.
