High Weald

chestlecrumbThe RSPB's Broadwater Warren site is the inspiration for a new children's book - Chestle Crumb and the Animals of Broadwater Warren.

The idea for the story came to author Nick Carter as he was walking around the site which lies just to the south west of Tunbridge Wells. It features Chestle Crumb - another name for a Dormouse - and his best friend, Norman the Nightjar, and their animal friends.  The story centres on a surprise party to welcome a new arrival into the forest.

If you wish to visit Chestle Crumb's home there are a variety of walks, developed to meet different abilities and interests, around Broadwater Forest. You do not have to be a RSPB·member to visit.
