High Weald

children looking viewCalling all schools located in the High Weald...... Be part of the Whopper Welly Walk 2016, help meet your requirements for health and well-being and take a class or the whole school out on a beautiful Autumnal walk in the week before half term, 17- 21 October.

Last year 700 children in Wealden and Rother took part in the Whopper Welly Walk as part of local walking festivals. This year we are asking all High Weald Heroes schools to take part and hope to break our record and get over 1000 children out walking! There is growing evidence that walking in nature not only improves our physical health but also helps our mental well-being.

Please let us know if you are planning to take part in the Whopper Welly Walk. We can provide you with an Autumn Spotter Sheet or suggest activities that fit with your term’s topic – or why not scan the 50 outdoor activities on the website for ideas.

All schools will receive a certificate for taking part and pupils can develop their IT skills by telling us about their walk through our online feedback form.

Unsure if you have a Welly Walk? The link below lists schools with Welly Walks. If you need help with using your walk or a Welly Walk ‘refresh’ then get in touch. Training to build teacher’s confidence with leading Welly Walks is available.

If you don’t have a Welly Walk we are happy to discuss how we could help you develop one.
